Age:  34

Occupation:  Accountant

Started Crossfit:  March 2012

Why I choose Crossfit:  I started CF last year at the urging of a friend.  My initial thought was “How could this be all that different than going to the gym?”  My question was answered immediately:  Crossfit is NOTHING like going to the gym.  I did yoga regularly, went to the gym daily, and taught exercise classes.  It only took one CF class to realize that my perspective on fitness was so off the mark.  I taught abs classes and yet my abs were so sore for the first few months after starting CF that I couldn’t even get out of bed (I had to roll myself out).  I couldn’t do a single pull-up when I started CF and had never climbed a rope in my life.

The exercise alone, however, is not what keeps me coming back.  CF offers a unique physical and mental challenge that is unlike anything I experience in my regular daily activities.  Every WOD leaves me feeling not only a little stronger than the day before but I also walk away with a renewed sense of perseverance, patience and purpose, not to mention greater clarity about my limitations and my capabilities.  I also love the camaraderie, support and positivity found in the CF community (plus a healthy does of competition keeps me on my toes).

I have found that Crossfit builds character and each and every workout is about integrity:  it doesn’t matter if you score the highest, lift the most weight, or finish first or last.  What matters is that you finish and you finish strong.

Other Hobbies:  fly fishing, spending time at the ocean, and pretty much any outdoor pursuit.

Go-To WOD Song:  Ever changing but today I’d say Pursuit of Happiness (Kid Cudi)

Thanks Arienne! Your dedication and work ethic are a credit to all of us here!
