Is CrossFit a Religion? CrossFit Elves
When Some Turn To Church, Others Go to CrossFit reports the New York Times. I notice in life that everything is better when we move. As such, it’s best to have a regular practice, just like praying or going to church. When things in life are amazing I celebrate by moving and working out. When things are tough and I’m down on my luck I find my way out with movement, by building strength. Working out does get you somewhere; it makes you stronger and more resilient and healthier. It also grounds you in yourself, in who you are. It’s like chopping wood and carrying water because life is a mix of the sacred and the mundane all thrown together in one big pot. Through that everyday practice, just like prayer, we find our way to the sacred. CrossFit, then, is one way to get there!
We are excited to announce that Richard Tippitt will now program at Wine Country CrossFit. A lifelong athlete and coach, he has been coaching CrossFit for over two years, from MA to VA, and now in sunny CA with us. A student of programming, he loves the theory behind programming philosophies around the sport of CrossFit. He brings dedication and attention to detail to everything he does, and we are pleased to have him with us.
Toy & Food Drive, Celebration of Weights
We don’t want to beat a dead horse, but the toys need to be in by December 12 to benefit the Valley Fire victims. The food drive continues, and please sign up for our in-house holiday competition which also goes down on the 12th. Festival of Weights benefits the hungry, so sign up here.
Shop With A Cop Elves
Our very own Coach Scott Holliday participates in the Shop With A Cop on December 19th. He and his wife Suzanne report that this is a special event and they feel lucky to be a part of it. And now there is an opportunity for the law abiding citizens of CrossFit to be involved: They need present wrappers! We are putting together a team of 10 elves who will go in Wine Country CrossFit shirts and hats to the Soscol Ave Target from 6.00-8.00AM. Sign up is in the gym by the iPad as you enter. We look forward to wrapping presents with you!
