The End of Overeating, Clean & Jerk

By: 0

I was recently given The End of Overeating, and I can’t put it down. Written by the former director of the FDA, it reads like prose while it is chocked full of scientific fact. It describes in detail how just the right combination of fat sugar and salt creates the “bliss factor” in our brain, and it keeps us coming back for more. It also details studies done with rats who have full bellies, but will scurry across the cage to gorge themselves on Fruit Loops, which contains just the right amount of fat, sugar and salt. A great read that illustrates in oh-so-human terms the struggle many of us have with food, I highly recommend it.

The Huffington Post did a great review on the book a few days ago, and you can pick it up for cheap on Amazon.

Here’s to understanding what motivates us around food!
