September's Challenge

By: 0

Sorry this post is coming so late!  With the changing month we have a new 1-month challenge.  This month it is handstands.  We have two different ways you can participate this month.  The first is freestanding (do a handstand with no aid).  The second is a handstand against the wall.  Here’s how it works: grab a partner to time for you and work on your handstands.  The partner is very important as I found out, when upside down, time seems to run at triple speed.

Last month’s results are below from the whiteboard.  What do I know about the people with the top scores up there?  They hit up their double unders on a daily or close to daily basis.

My goal for these month long challenges is to get everyone in the gym practicing skills that we simply cannot devote enough class time to for mastery.  The things that you will see on these challenges need daily practice, and my hope is that putting numbers on the board will get you fired up to really get in and practice.  So please, take 5 minutes a day before or after class and work on your handstands!  Maybe we need to come up with a prize for this?  Who wants to win a used chunk of chalk?  What if I tell you that it was used by Rodrigo for a PR on Fran?!?!
