Dr Austin & Running WOD

By: 0

If you have ever worked out near me in a class when I’m doing the WOD and strength work you have heard me moan and groan cuz of all the pain in my hips. I have had the full gamut of sensation in my hips for the last 15 years, from constant dull ache to sharp stabbing pain, and everything in between. In my previous life I was a professional whitewater athlete, which means I spent 25 years sitting in a boat. I thought the pain in my hips was simply the price I would pay  – forever – for all those years on rivers. I regularly work on them, stretching, yoga, lacrosse balls, strengthening, massage, chiropractic, etc, and the pain lessens and changes, but it never goes away.

Three or four months ago I started seeing Dr. Austin Komarek who is a new chiropractor in town. He also happens to be a CrossFitter, so he understands the demands I put on my body. I was skeptical that his touch would create different results than I had previously experienced with other modalities, but what did I have to lose? He is a spine guy and I started seeing him twice a week for adjustments. No groovy soft tissue work for that guy. A traditionalist, he adjusts the spine..

After twice a week for three weeks I felt 75% better. After six weeks I felt 100% better. My skepticism has been put to rest, and I now sing his praises. In fact I feel 20 years younger as a result of his care! This is an exciting thing to  report after so many years of tremendous discomfort.

The best part: He is no longer my secret! We will have a designated treatment room in the new gym that he will use one day per week. He works with highly motivated, health conscious individuals, like members of our box.  Specifically he helps people regain and maintain function in their bodies through the application of functional neuro-anatomy and chiropractic. Dr. Austin loves working with Crossfit athletes because his care helps them achieve new levels or performance and bodily awareness. He is stoked to be on board with us at Wine Country Crossfit, and is eager to serve our active population.

He will hold office hours at the gym on Monday nights, from 4.30PM on. Here’s where you come in. Can you see yourself using his services to relieve pain and increase your performance? Post responses to comments.
