Do You Need More Protein? It’s Time To Find Out!

I’ve worked out hard since I was a teenager. I don’t mean that I hammer everyday, but I go through phases. Every time I up my workouts I get super hungry. When I was younger I couldn’t figure out why I was always tired and stupid while in heavy training periods. I finally figured out that I had to eat more food. I knew nothing about nutrition, so I mostly ate more bread and pasta. That was back in the days when “carbo loading” was in, and I was already good at that!

Now I’m 55 and making the biggest comeback of my life. I had a total knee replacement in December, and now I’m training for the Whitewater World Championships in November. I’m going to compete with my teammates with whom I became two time Whitewater World Champion. This time we will compete in the Masters Division.

Now that I’ve upped my training I’m tired and hungry all the time once again! I accidentally added more protein to my life last Monday, and couldn’t believe how good I felt. Now I realize I just need more food. I think it will help with my recovery and energy.

I eat almost exclusively Paleo. Heaps of vegetables. Some animal protein. Nuts, fruits and berries. With regular workouts I feel great on Paleo.

But now I’m an aging athlete trying to make a comeback. I’m not sure Paleo is enough.

Coach Alyx asked me how many protein and carbs I eat, and I couldn’t answer her question, because I don’t know how to measure what I eat! I bet most of you are in the same boat as me. So we decided to host a What Do You Really Eat Clinic, because it turns out that knowing what you eat is actually kinda important if you want to maximize your results.

This way we can completely understand why our body is stagnant or  why we are unable to reach our goals. The good news is that we’re here to show you how to track the food you currently consume. Once you see clearly what you eat you may want to add or subtract certain foods in order to feel better. You will be surprised at how much easier it is to reach your goals with small changes in what you eat.”
