A Challenge, and Some Deadlifts

By: 0

I have a question for you – what have your CrossFit classes done for you lately? What do I mean by this, you may well ask – well, I mean have you tested your fitness out lately? A few weeks ago on a Saturday, a few members requested that we all run a 5k, and I happily obliged. Although there were a few groans here and there, for the most part, everyone who could run was up for it. And you know what? Even with that run coming close on the heels of the holiday season and people not necessarily feeling their most fit, we still had a huge number of PRs in the group, including one of our members who’d never completed more than a mile! Just goes to show how well CrossFit can prepare you for all sorts of adventures……

What am I getting at? Well, I am putting forth the challenge to all of you to take what you’ve gained at CrossFit and put it to the test by signing up for an athletic event of some kind in 2013 – there are so many out there and many ways to find them online (active.com is a great site) . Whether it’s another 5k to see if you can smash your time again, your first triathlon (my personal fave!), a cycling event of any distance, or something wild and crazy like an adventure race/obstacle course, find something that sounds like FUN and sign up for it! Even better, get some friends – CrossFitters or not – to join you and crank up the fun factor!

Now, once you’ve taken the plunge and made the commitment, keep that event as your short-term goal to help keep you motivated. Speaking from experience, knowing that you have a specific and timely goal to achieve is a great way to keep you from slacking on your physical activity.

So, are you going to participate in an athletic even this year? Have you already committed to one? I’d love to see some of them posted to the comments section!
