CrossFit Lets Me Do Things I Never Thought I Could!

Today’s Member Spotlight is Veronica King! You may remember Veronica as the girl who forced me to do the DiabloMan Triathlon in October, but there’s a lot about her you still don’t know!! She is an amazing athlete and has become a great friend to many of us at WCCF, and we are so lucky to have her as a member!

(Oh, also, she just got married and is having a little baby girl in the Spring!!)

Age: 32
Occupation:  Food and Beverage Manager at Auberge du Soleil
Started CrossFit:  I started a few years ago in NJ.  It was about 5 of us that signed up for it in the back parking lot of the Bikram studio we all went to.  The owner said its like a boot camp you want to try it?  I’ll try anything so I went and loved it.  I than moved to NYC  and it was really hard to find a box around where I lived or worked so I was forced to join the gym and did that for a few years.  When we moved to Napa finding CrossFit was one of the first things I looked up.
Why I Choose CrossFit:  It was really easy for me to just go to the gym and jump on a machine.  I would always tell myself I’m going to go in a lift but I would always end up running.  CrossFit forces me to get out of my comfort zone and do things I never thought I could.  As much as we do things as an individual we are a team and I know that my girls are going to be on the phone calling me if I’m not there.  The camaraderie between us all is great and you can’t get that support anywhere else.
Other Hobbies:  I am in the restaurant business so my life is food.  Reading up on chef’s, restaurants and cooking is my passion.
Go to WOD Song:  When I run its Queen- Another one bites the dust.  I really love all music.  My play list consists of a lot of random things from Spanish, Rap, Classic Rock.  I’m all over the place.
