News, Should Kids Lift Weights? Over Head Squats

Sandy Scheik who works out in the 5 and 6PM classes lost her home to a fire last night. It was on the front page of the paper on Thursday, and she seems as self possessed during this catastrophy as she does during those hard WODs. She is the tall, white- haired lady who owns the estate/antique place a few doors down from us. She has been with us for over a year I believe, and her strength gains are impressive. I have not yet been able to reach her to find out just what we as a community can do for her, but please keep her in your thoughts as you go about your day.

Should kids lift weights? We get asked that a lot as the common word on the streets has always been NO, cuz it will damage their growth plates. Mark Sisson of Mark’s Daily Apple did a great post on this question in February. Take a look at it here.
