In CrossFit we employ a host of tools to build your well rounded strength and fitness. We use gymnastics, Olympic lifting, cardio, power lifting, plyometrics, running and rowing, to name just a few.
It’s common to have favorites: Favorite movements, favorite tools, favorite modalities. Some of us LOVE the gymnastic movements because we have great strength to weight ratio. Some of us excel at the weightlifting. Some of us excel at none of it but keep working hard!
The key to success: Work on your weaknesses. That means DON’T CHERRY PICK.
Last Thursday we had running on the program. The first half of the hour in my 6AM class was devoted to running technique. The second half was applying that technique to a run. Everyone in my class improved their technique, and improved their running times beyond what they thought possible. But if you don’t show up, you will not improve.
Now I know it can be tough to amend something as innate as running. I mean, we’ve been doing that since we were toddlers! But it’s only by taking the time to practice the drills that you will improve. If you show up to the practice, at game time you will go faster with less effort. That is the beauty of Pose or Good Form Running.
We are here to help you get better. But you have to show up! Have faith in your coaches. Have faith in the program. Have faith in yourself.
