Member Spotlight and Happy Birthday WOD!

Today’s Member we’re focusing the spotlight on is Katie Curry (yes, you can blame her for today’s WOD!). Katie just celebrated her 1-Year Anniversary at WCCF in November, and has made some amazing strides in her time here. She also happens to be celebrating her birthday today! So, without further ado, let’s hear from the birthday girl!

Age: 39 (on Friday)

ccupation: freelance event marketing producer

Started CrossFit: November 2012

Why I Chose CrossFit: I’ve always been drawn to group fitness, for both the motivation and comradery, but the boot camps always ended up feeling repetitive and my progress and interest levels would stagnate after about 6 months. What I love about CrossFit is the constant variety that always keeps me guessing (and coming back for more!) and the incredible community that surrounds and supports all of us, in every workout. I’ve also found that CrossFit gives me the energy to be a better mom to my 2 1/2-year old daughter. (She’s also bar-weight so if I need to grab a quick workout, I’ll bang out some toddler thrusters for a little burn 😉 Finally, I love how MEASURABLE it is: I can look back in my book and see that I’m faster and stronger at 39 than I was at 37. How cool is that? I’m anti-aging!!!

Other Hobbies: traveling, getting crafty (I’m a crochet and quilting nerd), hanging with the family and assembling IKEA furniture.

If you have a birthday, and you attend classes at WCCF, we’d LOVE to put together a Birthday WOD for you!

Just send me the request with the date and some stuff that you love to do, and I’ll put together something special just for your big day!

Of course, then you get to be the one that everyone blames for the WOD……
