Erica, What's Next, Jackie
We saw tremendous gains and improvement in form during the recent Squat Program, and the progress witnessed throughout the gym is very impressive. We saw 1RM changes, and general confidence shifts under the bar. But I want to do a particular shout out to Erica Bradshaw whose 1RM Front Squat last week was #125. Her 1RM prior to going through Chemo and Radiation was also #125. How did she manage to maintain her strength while going through that nightmare? She CrossFitted.
I’m no cancer expert, but I notice that most people who go through treatment become victims and patients. From the outside it looks like Erica fought that mindset from day 1. Those cancer treatments tax the body while at the same time ridding it of cancer. That is a lot of STRESS. In the world of science and aging “it shortens the telomeres.” But exercise lengthens them, and turns back the clock. We truly believe that movement is the panacea. It might not always feel great, but it’s always the right thing. Erica reports “the more you move the better you feel.” So we’re all doing the right thing with CrossFIt and in turn lengthening those telomeres! To learn more about telomeres and the anti-aging effect of exercise read this.

What’s Next: We will test out some other 1 Rep Maxes to see just how effective the Spencer Arnold Program was in affecting movements across the board.
