Do-Gooder in Our Midst, 15.3

By: 0

We talk a lot about health and strength and fitness and Paleo in the Napa Valley on this blog. We also talk about our upcoming events like the Paleo Potluck on March 27th and the Gymnastics Seminar on April 11th. But today we branch out:

Most of us go to work, feed our families, and include some tithing and volunteerism around the edges. But Carlos Hagedorn makes the world a better place everyday when he goes to work. He runs the Legacy Project Napa Valley that provides

opportunities for youth in a segment of our society where there is very little. His love and support turns  “at-risk youth” to “at-promise”  by providing academic success, critical consciousness, community leadership and college/career readiness. Carlos truly is a Hope Dealer, and we applaud his good work. Learn more about The Legacy Project here.

The Legacy Project is featured in Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s latest Film called The Mask You Live In.This film examines definitions of masculinity and the stereotypes driven into boys from a young age. One of Carlos’ students, Luis Vallejo, went live on The Today show to help promote the new film. Not only is Ms. Newsom a courageous filmmaker, but so is Luis, Carlos’ student! Check out The Today Show.
