Aches & Pains. Now What?

CrossFit is the most effective method on the face of the earth for building strength.  That’s the amazing benefit. The consequence of your muscles getting strong in this rapid fashion is tightness. CrossFit can make you tight!

The antidote: Mobility.

When things feel tight at the bottom of that squat, take some extra time to put the lacrosse ball in your hip. Not able to overhead squat like you think you should? Perhaps the muscles around your shoulder blades are holding on for dear life. Solution: Lay on the floor and work the lacrosse ball around the perimeter of the scapula.

Give those tight spots at least 5 minutes a day. If you want to make lasting change then devote 15 minutes a day to mobility. You didn’t create those tight spots overnight, and it might take more than a passing moment on the lacrosse ball to see change.
