When Daniel started with us his knees caved in on his squat, his hips were crazy stiff and chef life was getting the better of him. Fast forward almost three years and his transformation is notable. He works hard daily and gets plenty mobility in the mix. He RX’s most WODS. He is the Chef du Cuisine at La Toque Napa Valley so he juggles immense professional responsibilities with that of father and family man. He was a finalist last year in the Food Network’s Chopped Napa Grill Masters, so we know he is darn good in the kitchen! Daniel is from Venezuelan and Peruvian descent, and he is gracious and kind to all who cross his path. He is also organizing a team for the Tough Mudder this fall at the Sonoma Raceway, and he has room for YOU!

1. When did you start CrossFit and why? It will be 3 years in August

2. What time of day do you come in? Depends on the day. Sometimes 9am and sometimes 5pm

3. What is one type of movement you hate and one you love? I hate pistols. I really love the snatch because when you hit it right the weight floats up.

4. Any big goal(s) set for the next year? I’m running the tough muddier in October. Also want to be able to do muscle ups during WODs by the end of the year.

5. Name an athlete that inspires you and why. J’Den Cox. 3x NCAA wrestling champion and bronze medalist in last years Olympics

6. Tell us one fun fact about you. I’m famous…

7. You were left on a deserted island. What one food and thing (i.e. book, music player, etc…) would you want to be left with you? On a deserted island I would need lots of fresh coconuts and books.

8. How has CrossFit helped you in sports? Life? I started CrossFit because I was overweight and my mobility was so bad that it was uncomfortable to bend down and pick up my baby daughter. Life is much better now that I am healthier and more flexible

9. How have workouts changed for you over the years? My workouts have gotten more intense. I can go harder and faster. I started doing longer WODs with more reps and heavier weights
